summer camp
As the camp closes, a new portal opens…
We’re thrilled to have had an unforgettable season of storytelling, poetry, and media analysis! Through a mix of free virtual workshops and a handful of special in-person gatherings, we explored creativity in all its ghostly glory, and the results were nothing short of magical.
These chilling workshops unearthed the hidden powers of critical thinking and self-expression, all within a culturally rich (and just slightly haunted) Zoom setting. Together, we delved into how stories shape our worldviews, bridging ancestral traditions with the fast-moving digital age. Creativity knows no age, and this summer proved it.
Our ghostly online writing circles echoed with powerful voices, bold ideas, and cultural truths rising from the shadows. Thank you for daring to listen, and to share your own stories with us.
We can’t wait to conjure up more in the coming summers. Until then… stay spooky.
Diné Kids Film Club, in partnership with the Diné Artisans + Authors Capacity Building Institute, proudly presented the 2025 Virtual Summer Camp: A Community Literacy Project created to help close a critical gap in media literacy education for Native youth through the thrilling and insightful lens of horror.
By combining the power of the arts with community-centered teaching, this virtual summer camp empowered young Native participants to think critically, express themselves authentically, and navigate today’s media landscape with cultural pride and confidence. Rooted in a deep commitment to equity and representation, the Film Club nurtured the next generation of Native storytellers and thinkers — all while keeping things spooky, fun, and unforgettable!
